How it Works - Mondato Search Portal

The Mondato Search Portal for Value Transfer has been developed to help you - a person sending money internationally - find the best way to get it into the hands of your friend or family member, wherever they are. Our goal is to link you to options for sending your money that best meet your needs! The Mondato team welcomes suggestions for improving your experience.

Money Transfer Overview using Mondato Search Comparison Portal

Step 1: Enter your search information

• Start by selecting the country you are sending from (including state in the US) and the country you are sending to.

• Enter the amount in the sending currency that you would like to send. The currency will default to that of the sending country. (Some sending countries may have options for several currencies, in which case, select one.)

• Allow a search of all combinations of options (default) or select or deselect the options provided for payment and sending methods, or other listed criteria you would like to compare. Sending method options include online, phone or agent transactions. Payment method has options such as paying with cash, debit card or credit card.

• Click on the search button.

Step 2: Review your search results

• You will see a table of results that match your search parameters. These results also include a link to feedback from other users on that service provider.

• Hover over the column headings to see descriptive information about what each column means.

• Go back and refine your search as needed to get results that are most relevant.

• If you have used a particular service provider, add a rating and comment to inform other users about your experience. Or, come back later and rate your chosen service.

• Sort by column headings if desired. For example, to see the maximum amount your recipient could anticipate receiving, click to sort on that column.

Step 3: Select your service and go to the provider's site (or physical location) to complete your transaction

• The Mondato portal is not a service provider, we just provide unbiased information to help you choose a value transfer service that will best meet your needs. You will need to proceed directly with any provider to confirm the information from the search, and to complete your transaction.

• Confirm current exchange rates with providers for your specific transaction as these can change frequently and may be different from location to location for agent transactions in particular.

• At the service provider site, read the small print... You do not want to be surprised by unexpected fees, such as recipient fees, which can vary and may not always be fully disclosed in the "big print."

• An "instant" transaction may in fact be estimated to be available within the next business day or even 3 or 4 business days. Most transfer delivery times are just estimates. Check all the details carefully if you have money that must reach your destination within specific time limits. Find out if there are any guarantees.

• Check and confirm what amounts your recipient will have to pay to access the funds. These sometimes hidden charges can be significant and vary widely.

Step 4: Come back and share your experience

• Let other users know about what you experienced as you completed your transaction.

Why is my send / receive country not listed?

The list of countries covered in the search will continue to increase. So if your send or receive country is not currently listed, come back again soon and chances are it will be. Our focus is on those corridors (send/receive country pairs) where the transfer of value may not be as competitive yet as it could be. We'd like to see increased competitiveness and thus greater value to the consumer.
